Point Roberts, Washington

Point Roberts, also know as "Pt. Bob" to the locals, is completely unconnected to the United States. Formed in 1846, it established the 49th parallel in the Treaty of Washington. To get to Point Roberts, one must cross the U.S.-Canadian border in Blaine, and go west to Tsawwassen, British Columbia, and across the border back into the United States.

Point Roberts, part of Whatcom County, Washington, is a great place to relax, enjoy the beaches and go boating. A popular place to spend the day is Maple Beach known for its warm shallow water, it's a great place to beachcomb, dig clams, fly kites and build sandcastles.
